Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former coach his previous coach.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since March of that year.

Victory also indicates he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He defended four early-game break points in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
