Several people have been injured following a Delta Airlines flight originating in Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia encountered turbulence on Friday morning.

Delta Flight 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it touched down at the Sydney airport, a company official stated. Several cabin crew members required medical attention.

Emergency medical services reported they treated a total of five people, and transported a trio to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that comprised spinal discomfort and migraines. Those affected spanned from their 30s to 70s.

This marks the newest example of commercial jets experiencing turbulence, with aviation specialists saying that global warming is a significant contributor.

There were nearly 250 travelers and 15 crew members on the wide-body jet, the official added, clarifying that the plane arrived "safely and normally" at the airport at 06:48 local time on the day in question.

Paramedics indicated they got a call just only 180 seconds ahead of the plane arrived, and emergency vehicles were standing by on the runway.

The reasons turbulence is getting more common - and more severe.
